ACTIVE INGREDIENTS INFO
Aloe Vera
The Gist
We’ve all used aloe vera gel to soothe sunburn, but did you know it can also nourish your hair? In addition to giving you that fresh, just-out-of-the-shower look, you also get a shot of vitamins and minerals that cleanse, hydrate and strengthen your hair without leaving a greasy residue.
You can find it in:
Forget acai berries and turmeric. Aloe vera is the original superfood. In fact, its benefits were recorded on a Mesopotamian tablet more than 2,000 years ago! But we won’t bore you with the details. All you need to know is that aloe vera contains about 75 active components that treat everything from ulcers and arthritic pain to skin inflammation and dry hair. Is it any wonder it was known in ancient times as the gel of immortality?
Extracted from the leaves of a cactus-like plant, aloe vera gel hydrates and strengthens your hair while controlling excess grease. It also has essential fatty acids that step in to boost blood flow and soothe an itchy scalp. Packed with vitamins A, B9, B12, C and E, as well as the minerals copper and zinc, aloe vera deeply nourishes your hair and scalp while giving you that slicked back, high-fashion look. What more could you ask for? Treasured by Wuli, you’ll find aloe vera in our Curl Cream and Sea Salt Spray.
Argan Oil
The Gist
We think your hair deserves the very best, so we've thrown in the Rolls Royce of oils into our formulas. That’s right, argan oil. Rich in vitamins C and E, omega fatty acids, antioxidants and minerals, argan oil stimulates scalp growth and keeps pesky dandruff at bay. Fuller, softer and frizz-free hair starts and ends with this precious oil.
You’ll find it in our:
Native to Morocco, argan oil is one of the world's most expensive edible oils. Don’t believe us? Google it! Grown in a small, dry and harsh area of the Moroccan coast, not only has argan oil been used for centuries to treat dry skin, acne and joint pain, it’s also good for keeping hair full, healthy and frizz-free.
But argan is a tough nut to crack – literally! That’s why skilled Moroccan women use stones and steady hands to extract this precious oil. It’s packed with vitamins C and E, omega fatty acids, antioxidants and a good dose of copper and zinc. These nutrients boost hair growth, soothe your scalp and give you lustrous shine. Pardon our French, but we think argan oil is sh*t hot. That's why it's a key ingredient in all of our products. Whether you use our Curl Cream , Matte Balm , Shine Balm or Sea Salt Spray, you’ll be getting the royal treatment.
Bentonite
The Gist
One clay is never enough! Don’t get me wrong, we think kaolin clay is the bomb. But if you want to give your hair an extra boost, you also need a dash of bentonite. Why? Because it picks up where shampoos and conditioners leave off. Bentonite clay contains six toxin-fighting minerals that remove excess oil, exfoliate your scalp and leave you with nourished and touchable hair. Like kaolin clay, it’s a powerful antidote to thin or limp hair – and an essential ingredient in the Wuli range.
You’ll find it in:
When you’ve got fine, flat or limp hair, styling products and dyes can do more harm than good. Instead of bulking up your hair, they can leave it battered, bruised and beyond repair. But this is where bentonite steps in. Formed from weathered volcanic ash and used for centuries as a natural cosmetic and cure for wounds, bentonite exfoliates your scalp, removes excess oils and gives your crown a new layer of moisture. It’s also rich in calcium, iron, potassium, sodium and magnesium, which strengthen hair and promote growth.
And the best part? It’s charged with negative ions that make it a natural defrizzer. Say goodbye to lifeless fuzz and hello to drop-dead amazing hair! Bentonite can be found in Wuli's Matte Balm and Shine Balm formulas.
Burdock Extract
The Gist
It may look prickly on the outside, but this wild weed is full of goodness on the inside. A member of the sunflower family, burdock root is loaded with vitamins, minerals and amino acids that work together to nourish your scalp and stimulate hair growth.
You’ll find it in:
Used for centuries by Native Americans to combat thinning hair, bald spots and scalp irritation, burdock root is one of the most nutrient-dense ingredients in our products. Packed with ten vitamins and minerals (including vitamin B6 and C, manganese, magnesium, potassium, folate, phosphorus, calcium, iron and copper), it controls dryness, promotes growth and protects you from UV damage. What’s more, it can increase melanin production and blend away pesky greys. But let’s not forget burdock root’s fungus-fighting powers. It contains polyacetylenes that conquer yeast and bacteria (a common cause of dandruff and hair loss) and get your scalp back on track. Is it any wonder it takes pride of place in the Wuli Curl Cream, Matte Balm, Shine Balm and Sea Salt Spray formulas?
Castor Seed Oil
The Gist
Ultra moisturiser is not a word we like to just throw around, but that’s exactly what you can call castor seed oil. Used for thousands of years to treat a range of ailments, castor seed oil is how you make your scalp sing. Part moisturiser, part dandruff fighter, it’s the tonic your scalp relies on when you step up your hair game from average to mighty fine.
You’ll find it in our:
Add this to the list of wonders from the ancient world. Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Indians alike were onto something when castor seed oil became their go-to for a range of treatments. For hair, it holds the envious title as the ultra moisturiser. Working in harmony with other oils like jojoba, marula and argan, castor seed oil adds its own unique dose of vitamin E and Omega-9 fatty acid-rich nutrition to the scalp – supporting an endless battle in kicking dryness and itchy flare-ups to the curb. On contact with skin, castor seed oil is like wrapping yourself in velvet – think smooth, soft and warm sensations.
If you sport naturally coily, curly or wavy hair, every bit helps when it comes to keeping your temperamental scalp happy. That’s exactly why castor seed oil is on the list of ingredients in the Wuli Curl Cream. Be kind to your scalp and watch it bring your show-stopping curls to life.
Himalayan Salt
The Gist
Straight from the foothills of the Himalayas, this mineral-rich salt is the foundation of Wuli's Sea Salt Spray. Himalayan salt can dissolve product build-up, remove dandruff and help you achieve that fresh-from-the-beach look.
You’ll find it in our:
Not all salt is created equal, so if you’re going to put it in your hair, make sure it’s the purest form you can find. That’s why we use Himalayan sea salt in our Sea Salt Spray. Not only is it free of additives, but it’s also brimming with nutrients. This is because the seabeds in the Himalayan mountains were once covered by glaciers, protecting them from pollution. The result? A pure sea salt that boasts more than 84 trace nutrients. No wonder it’s used in food, lamps, bath salts and cosmetics.
As soon as our Himalayan salt makes contact with your hair and scalp, its exfoliating properties dissolve product build-up, remove dandruff and boost circulation, leading to vigorous growth. What’s more, its concentration of chloride, potassium, magnesium, iron and calcium coat the hair strands to give you the full, textured style you crave.
Jojoba Oil & Jojoba Esters
The Gist
We call this the hydration sensation! Found in the seeds of the Simmondsia Chinensis plant, jojoba is a liquid wax that deeply moisturises your hair and scalp and gives you that effortless, salon-fresh look.
You’ll find it in our:
In the early 18th century, Spanish missionaries arrived at the Baja peninsula, a vast desert spanning the northwest coast of Mexico. It was here that they found a Native American tribe, the Pericú, heating a mysterious seed, grinding it into a paste and applying it to their hair.
The missionaries noticed that the paste made the tribe’s hair glossy and silky – something they’d only seen in the noble classes of Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. What’s more, the highly prized seed was the cornerstone of the Pericú’s daily life and distinguished them from other tribes. So what was that mystery seed? Jojoba, of course!
Found in the deserts of Arizona and Southern California, jojoba is widely recognised as one of nature’s finest hair tonics. That's because it mimics our bodies’ natural oils and provides long-lasting moisture. With each application, jojoba infuses each strand with vitamins B, C and E – nutrients that keep your hair healthier for longer. At Wuli, jojoba is used both in its traditional oil form and as an ester. The ester provides all of jojoba's benefits without the oily residue. Find the ester in our Curl Cream and the oil and ester combo in our Shine Balm and Matte Balm.
Kaolin Clay
The Gist
Who said clays are just for your face? If you’ve got fine or brittle hair, kaolin clay is just what you need to soothe an irritated scalp and stop breakages. Packed with minerals such as silica, zinc, potassium, calcium and magnesium, it helps fine hair grow thicker, faster, softer and stronger.
You’ll find it in:
When you’ve got fine, flat or limp hair, people think you’ve got it made. You just wash, dry and comb, right? Little do they know you’re prone to the same breakages, thinning and dandruff as people with curly hair. And let’s face it, you’ve probably tried every serum or chemical treatment around – with little success.
Enter Kaolin clay. It’s what we call fine hair’s faithful friend. Used for centuries in pottery and cosmetics, it’s packed with silica, zinc, potassium, calcium and magnesium, which fine hair needs for thick, soft and strong growth. When absorbed, kaolin exfoliates and detoxifies your hair and scalp like a fine spa treatment. And while shampoos and conditioners are meant to do this, they just don’t cut it when it comes to fine hair. You need to bring out the big guns! But don’t worry, kaolin doesn’t dry out your scalp like other clays. It cleanses and absorbs while keeping the balance of your skin intact. Kaolin clay is available in two Wuli products specifically designed for fine or limp hair: Matte Balm and Shine Balm.
Marula Oil
The Gist
When you have wavy, curly or coily hair, protecting it from wind, sun and humidity can be a daily struggle. You’re dealing with flyaways, fuzz and flaky scalp. But you can kiss those hair woes goodbye with the help of marula oil. Loaded with vitamins C and E, it feeds your hair when the environment starves it. So instead of hiding your locks from the world, watch them spring back to life one strand at a time.
You’ll find it in our:
Deep in the heart of the Rift Valley is the original home of the Marula tree. Surrounded by haunting volcanoes, sun-soaked land and sapphire lakes, its growth is nothing short of a miracle. That’s because Marula needs to go into daily combat with a harsh climate and wild animals to survive. If it passes this daily test, the tree rewards us with a nut that yields its greatest prize – oil.
When you use Marula oil, your hair is set up to thrive even in the toughest environment, just like the Marula tree. It holds the perfect ratio of omega-9 and omega-6 fatty acids, which penetrate your hair follicles and scalp to maintain firmness and suppleness. It’s also non-comedogenic. In short, it won’t clog the pores of your scalp, so you can keep your worst enemy – dandruff – at bay.
But the wonders don’t stop there. Marula oil also packs more vitamin C and vitamin E than you’ll find in an orange or almond. So what does this mean for your hair? Well, you get two powerful antioxidants that work together to promote collagen production and heal damaged skin, both of which are mandatory for a mighty mane. Discover the moisturising qualities of marula oil in our Wuli Curl Cream.
Nettle Extract
The Gist
We don’t like to play favourites, but if burdock root and safflower oil were supporting acts, then nettle extract would be the main event. Is there anything this nifty plant can’t do? In addition to treating eczema, arthritis and allergies, nettle extract also combats dandruff, scalp itch, split ends and hair loss. We think it may have something to do with its dizzying array of more than ten vitamins and seven minerals!
You’ll find it in:
For more than 5,000 years, nettle has been used as food, fertiliser and even a cloth-making fibre. But who knew that it could also fight hair loss, dandruff, scalp itch and split ends? Along with burdock root and safflower oil, nettle gives your scalp a boost thanks to vitamins A, C, D, E, F, K and P, as well as selenium, zinc, iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium and silica. This rich combination makes nettle extract antioxidant-rich, antimicrobial and antibacterial. In other words, a potent elixir for your crown! Nettle extract is essential to the Wuli range, which is why you’ll find it in all of our products: Curl Cream, Matte Balm, Shine Balm and Sea Salt Spray.
Olive Leaf Extract
The Gist
We like to think of olive leaf extract as the frizz detonator! When partnered with kaolin clay and bentonite, it neutralises PH levels and gives your hair a smooth, frizz-free gloss. It’s the dream, right? Loaded with vitamins, minerals and amino acids, it strengthens fine hair without leaving an oily residue – either on your pillow or your partner’s cheek!
You’ll find it in:
Olive oil has been used as a hair treatment for centuries, but did you know that its leaves are like youth serum for your hair? If kaolin clay cleanses your scalp and strengthens each strand, olive leaf extract swings in to makes sure every inch of your crown is moisturised.
When you apply olive leaf extract, it goes right to work by repairing damaged hair, smoothing hair strands and preserving hair colour. It achieves this through a medley of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, such as vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, iron, selenium, chromium and zinc. Sure, products like shea butter do a similar job, but if your hair is fine, you’ll want an ingredient that doesn’t give you an oily finish.
What’s more, olive leaf extract has higher levels of oleuropein than olive oil. This potent antimicrobial reduces inflammation and hair loss. The result? A healthy scalp and fuller growth! That’s why olive leaf extract is found in our Matte Balm and Shine Balm collection.

Safflower
The Gist
If you want to kick hair loss to the curb and roll out the welcome mat for lush growth, you can’t go wrong with safflower oil. Rich in antioxidants, fatty acids and vitamin E, it gives your scalp the boost it needs to sport an epic mane.
You’ll find it in:
Native to the Middle East, Asia and North America, safflower oil is better known for its cooking properties, but when crafted for grooming, it's your secret weapon to a flake-free scalp. The fatty acid and vitamin E concentrations in safflower oil nourish your hair and soothe your scalp. What’s more, they protect your hair from UV rays and repair any damage that’s already been done. The result? Killer growth, soft hair and no more dandruff. If that wasn’t enough, safflower oil also cleanses and balances your hair. So if you have wavy, curly or coily hair types, it can combat breakages and wayward tresses. Ready to turn your thinning crown into a mighty mane? Then get your hands on our signature Wuli Curl Cream.
Shea Butter
The Gist
Shea butter is one of nature’s gifts. Part moisturiser, part strengthening agent and all-around protector, shea butter penetrates your hair follicles to keep your locks soft, healthy and lustrous. And the best part? It’s hypoallergenic, so if you’ve got sensitive skin, you’ll get all the perks without the irritation.
You’ll find it in our:
According to legend, when the ancient Roman statesman Marc Antony laid eyes on Cleopatra, he froze in awe, utterly fixated by her beauty. But rumour is, it wasn't her royal status or clothes that mesmerised him. It was the soft, satin-like hair that cascaded down her shoulders. So what was her secret? Shea butter, of course!
Extracted from the nut of the shea tree found across West and East Africa, Shea butter is one of the most luxurious hair care ingredients around. This nutty oil is literally oozing with fatty acids that penetrate your hair follicles to repair, tame and condition. It’s also packed with vitamins A, E and F, which deeply moisturise your hair and scalp without leaving a greasy film. Discover the legendary effect of shea butter in Wuli's Curl Cream, Matte Balm and Shine Balm.
Wheat Protein
The Gist
Don’t you love the way your hair feels when you first step out of the shower? Soft, moist, easy to brush. But if you’ve got curly or chemically treated hair, it doesn’t stay that way for long. Luckily, there’s an ingredient that can keep your hair soft and manageable all day long – wheat protein. That’s right. The magic carb that strengthens and hydrates your hair like no other (except maybe our products!).
You’ll find it in:
Curly or dyed hair can feel soft and moist as soon as you come out of the shower. But an hour later, those silky locks become dryer than the Sahara desert. Moisture becomes a distant memory and frizz, breakage and brittle hair take their place. But what if we told you that the answer was in your pantry all along? Say hello to your new best friend: wheat protein.
Rich in amino acids, wheat protein helps your hair maintain that soft, silky feeling long after you’ve stepped out of the shower. It penetrates deep into your follicles to replenish nutrients that often get stripped away by chemicals or weather. This means you get fewer breakages and more volume. And the best part? Brushes, combs and your partner’s hand will glide through your hair like silk. That’s why wheat protein is an essential ingredient in our signature Wuli Curl Cream. Also, that honeyed tint? You can thank wheat protein for that. Looks like your hair was craving carbs after all!
